Case study 1: Where The Wild Is

Emma is the founder of a small but growing tour operator called Where The Wild Is, which specilalises in bespoke Arctic experiences in Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Svalbard. Emma was keen to expand her range of trips and increase her annual bookings but was struggling to keep up with her website content.

With new direct flights from Gatwick to the Faroe Islands starting in April 2020, Emma spotted an opportunity: she could be one of the first agencies to offer trips to the islands and capitalise on new customers.

As a start-up, Emma didn’t have much budget, but given the pressing deadline she decided to take the plunge and outsource to a professional writer. After a short discussion, I was able to research and write original text for her Faroe Islands pages, ensuring my tone of voice was in keeping with the rest of her brand.

This left Emma free to focus on marketing her new products and start taking customer bookings.

Running a small business is challenging, especially if you’re on your own. As well as managing bookings, I’m constantly trying to reach new customers and keep my social channels up to date – not to mention the dreaded accounts. There’s so much I want to do with my website but I just don’t have the time. Finding Nicola was a godsend. I knew once I saw her work that outsourcing some content would be money well spent. Thanks to Nicola I was able to get my Faroe Islands pages up and running as the first flights went live. I only have a tiny budget but outsourcing just a couple of days’ work a month really takes away some of the stress.
